Although somewhat controversial, unlimited vacation is a job perk currently being enjoyed by thousands of workers in the United States. Decades ago, workers were expected to eat, drink, and breathe the company’s bottom line. The more hours spent in the office, the harder the worker – or so the thinking went.

Today, employers are more interested in results than how many hours a worker puts in. Unlimited PTO is linked to higher morale and a more positive work environment. Fields Offering Unlimited Vacation

Unlimited PTO is growing most in the technology fields and has been seen online in advertisements for data scientists, software engineers, and their ilk. These types of jobs are six to eight times as likely to offer unlimited PTO than other fields due to the nature of their work. It is usually listed in job postings with terms like “unlimited vacation,” “unlimited PTO,” or “open PTO.”
